SBA

U.S. Small Business Association

The U.S. Small Business Administration assists small businesses in four major areas:

  • Business Financing
  • Education, Information, Technical Assistance & Training
  • Federal Procurement – Government Contracting
  • Advocacy – A Voice for Small Business

Lenawee Now

Lenawee Now is a non-profit organization dedicated to economic and business expansion throughout Lenawee County. In addition to business attraction, retention and start-up activities, Lenawee Now provides critical services to support business growth including access to funding sources and talent enhancement.

SCORE

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and has been mentoring small business owners for more than forty years. Lenawee County is served by two volunteers who are part of Ann Arbor SCORE, Dave Maxwell and Graham Fleming.

South Central Michigan Works

South Central Michigan Works! (SCMW!) brings together public and private sector groups in Hillsdale, Jackson, and Lenawee Counties to help employers recruit, develop, and keep skilled workers. SCMW! is dedicated to making sure that businesses in our region have the skilled workforce needed to succeed, and that jobseekers are connected to local employers with careers that align with their interests and skill sets.

Michigan Small Business Development Center

The Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC) enhances Michigan’s economic well-being by providing counseling, training, secondary market research for new ventures, existing small businesses and advanced technology companies. With offices statewide, the SBDC positively impacts the economy by strengthening existing companies, creating new jobs, retaining existing jobs, and assisting companies in defining their path to success.

The IRS.gov small business tax resource page contains forms, instructions, an online tax workshop and more to help you meet the federal tax responsibilities for your business.
