Adrian, Michigan – The Adrian Chamber Board of Directors has announced that Matt Swartzlander will be the organization’s new Executive Director, beginning June 17, 2019.
Swartzlander has worked in several capacities with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, most recently serving as the Director of Events and Legislative Affairs. He previously worked in positions for Legacy Printing in downtown Adrian, owned by the Swartzlander family, and was involved with Boy Scouts of America.
“As a Chamber, we’ve gone through an extensive process to fine-tune the qualifications we sought in the next Executive Director,” explained Ashley Hutchison, who serves as board chair. “This included further development of the strategic plan and feedback from current members as to the future vision and direction of the Adrian Chamber.”
A selection committee analyzed the skills and developmental qualifications that were desired to bring the Adrian Chamber in line with the strategic plan and position it for future growth within the community. Candidate applications were accepted, with initial screening and in-person interviews narrowing the candidate pool in the final rounds.
“The Chamber Board appreciates the skills and commitment that Bill Kenyon brought to our membership over the past year as he served as interim executive director,” Hutchison said. “We are also thankful for the volunteer support and dedication that the transition committee showed during the entire process.”
“I thank the Adrian Area Chamber Board of Directors for entrusting me to lead and grow the Chamber. I am excited to return to the community that is the home of my family and have an impact supporting the business needs of Adrian,” Swartzlander said.
Swartzlander will be formally introduced to the membership during the monthly Summit Series breakfast meeting on June 20, 2019. Registration information is available on the Chamber website, https://www.adrianareachamber.com/summit-series
