The Lenawee County Child Advocacy Center, a program of Catholic Charities of Jackson, Lenawee & Hillsdale Counties, announces its Grand Opening to be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 122 S. Broad Street, Adrian, Michigan. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m.

The Lenawee County Child Advocacy Center (LCCAC) is providing solutions to the increasing problem of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse in our community. It is a collaboration of the Lenawee County Prosecutor’s Office, Department of Health & Human Services (Child Protective Services), Lenawee County Community Mental Health, all Lenawee County law enforcement agencies, ProMedica, the U of M Child Protection Team, and Catholic Charities. Leaders from these organizations constitute the LCCAC Steering Committee. Practices in the past indicated that these vulnerable children were being re-traumatized every time they had to tell their story to a different person. By combining efforts across agencies, from intervention to treatment, the LCCAC offers a child-focused, independent location for specially-trained personnel to conduct a single forensic interview of the effected children, to provide crisis counseling for them and their non-offending caregivers, and to guide them to ongoing services they may need. This important service helps to minimize the trauma to children in crisis and supports them on their road to healing.

Please help us celebrate the opening of our Center and commitment of the agencies involved to bring this valuable service to our community.
